Import a License

PastePrompt can be used in Free mode or with a paid license. The macOS DMG is the same public download for every plan. Paid licenses unlock Pro or Founder features after you import a signed personal license file.

Free vs Pro

Free is intended for trying the local workflow: opening a repository, browsing the file tree, searching, previewing, basic copy, basic token counting, a 64k selected-token budget, and secret scanner warnings.

Pro is intended for repeatable professional workflows. Depending on the current license terms and app build, Pro may include features such as unlimited workspaces, Git diff mode, custom prompt templates, prompt history, Markdown export, advanced token budgeting, secret redaction, and editor handoff.

Founder Lifetime is a paid launch offer. Treat its exact lifetime scope, update policy, and support terms as the written purchase terms, not as assumptions from the name alone.

Where to get a license file

Paid launch users receive a license file or license download link through the configured purchase or support flow. The file is issued to the buyer email. Keep it private.

Do not edit license files

Changing a signed license file can make it invalid. Do not rename internal fields, reformat the JSON, or paste partial contents into the app.

Do not share license files

The app download may be shared publicly. Your license file should not be shared, posted, committed to a repository, or attached to public support requests. The initial offline-license flow does not enforce a per-device activation count.

Import steps

  1. Save the license file from the purchase or support flow.
  2. Open PastePrompt.
  3. Open the license or account area.
  4. Choose Import License.
  5. Select the original license file.
  6. Confirm the displayed plan and status.
  7. Try a paid feature included in your plan.
  8. Keep the original license file in a safe location in case you reinstall.

License status states

The app may show states such as:

  • Free: no paid license is active.
  • Trial: a local trial is active, if the build supports trials.
  • Pro active: a Pro license is accepted.
  • Founder active: a Founder license is accepted.
  • Expired: the license date or subscription window is no longer active.
  • Invalid signature: the file may be corrupted, edited, or not issued for this app.
  • Unsupported license: the file may require a newer app version or different release channel.

The exact labels may differ by build. Use the app's displayed status as the source of truth.

Expired license troubleshooting

  1. Confirm your Mac date and time are correct.
  2. Confirm the license file is the newest one you received.
  3. Check whether your plan is time-limited.
  4. Check release notes for license changes.
  5. Contact support with the app version and status text.

Tampered or invalid license troubleshooting

  1. Re-download the license file from the original purchase or support link.
  2. Import the file without opening or editing it.
  3. Confirm you are using the current app build for your release channel.
  4. Contact support if the new copy fails.

Do not include repository contents, generated bundles, or private source code when asking for license support.

Privacy note

License import is separate from repository scanning. Importing a license should not require uploading source files, prompts, generated bundles, or repository contents.
